Residential Assessment
Our service offers comprehensive NatHERS (National House Energy Rating Scheme) assessments and whole-of-home evaluations in line with the latest National Construction Code (NCC 2022) standards to achieve 7 stars (and beyond). We offer expert services in Residential DTS (Deemed-to-Satisfy) and VURB (Verified Using a Reference Building) compliance for NCC 2022. Our DTS assessments ensure that your building design meets all relevant performance standards set out in the National Construction Code. For more complex designs, Performance Solutions via Specification 44, offering alternative solutions where NatHERS and DTS methods have been unable to achieve compliance. With our in-depth knowledge of NCC 2022, we help ensure your residential projects meet all regulatory requirements, saving time and costs helping you build a healthy and comfortable home.

Commercial Assessment
We offer specialised commercial energy assessments to ensure compliance with NCC 2022, Volume 1, using either DTS (Deemed-to-Satisfy) or J1V3 (Verification Using a Reference Building) methods. Our energy efficiency assessments are tailored to meet the specific needs of your commercial project, helping you meet the rigorous performance requirements outlined in the National Construction Code.
Using the DTS method, we evaluate your design against the code’s prescriptive requirements for areas such as building fabric, glazing and lighting. For more complex or innovative designs, our J1V3 method offers flexibility by applying performance-based solutions that demonstrate energy efficiency compliance through detailed modelling and simulations. A J1V3 pathway may achieve considerable savings on a project due to the flexibility afforded by this more sophisticated method.

Our aim is to maximise thermal comfort and liveability, with the added bonus of reducing ever-escalating energy costs.
We are accredited by the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA), the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) and Design Matters National (DMN) and use BERS Pro, FirstRate5 and Better Building tools to provide thermal performance solutions to meet our client’s needs.
The Principal of Surfcoast TPER, Terry Robinson (B. Environmental Design-UTAS, B. Construction Management-Deakin University, Certificate IV in NatHERS Assessment) has over 30 years’ experience in building design, project and construction management, and energy auditing. For many years Terry Robinson was a Registered Building Practitioner, specialising in prestige residential construction.
